Lyon County
Early Head Start (EHS) serves expectant mothers through three year olds in Lyon County. EHS offers 50 enrollment slots in a variety of program options. The Home based option is available for families who are not in need of child care. For families who are in school or working, enrollment options are available in center based child care environments as well as family child care centers. EHS provides comprehensive services to the enrolled child as well as his/her family, focusing on education, nutrition, health, dental, family services, social services, transition and development.
ECKAN Head Start promotes health development for all children. In order for the program and the child’s family to be certain a child is healthy, a variety of screenings must be completed. All children in the Head Start program should receive the screenings and exams on the application checklist. Parents should review the checklist, before attending doctor’s appointments, to ensure they can advocate for their child, and ensure the appropriate screenings are completed.
